"Sailor and Sweetheart" 1995-2018, oil on canvas, 120х135

With the exhibition project "Sailor and Sweetheart", artist Nina Kukharets continues her research in the field of formal color relations. The maritime theme, close to the artist since childhood (Nina Kukharets lived by the sea for more than twenty years), is intertwined with the first sensual experiences of the characters in the paintings. Light eroticism, hinted at in a number of works, demonstrates only a foretaste of the first intimacy. In general, the exhibition project is a kind of declaration of love for the sea and its inhabitants. While highlighting human relations in her works, the artist chose such an important aspect as the birth of mutual affection from their complexity and versatility.
